St. Louis Inno Partnership: Alternative Funding Methods Draw Startups Away from Venture Capital

Startups looking for funding outside of venture capital (VC) have more options than ever. Difficulties obtaining VC investment has driven startups in various stages to explore alternative funding methods, including some new and innovative methods like using IP as collateral. Anders Advisory Principal Jeff Milam, ASA, delves into the different options available to startups in addition to describing the requirements for each in a recent article for the St. Louis Business Journal’s Inno platform.

In the article, Jeff breaks down the shortcomings startup founders may face with venture capital that have led some to investigate alternative options. “Securing funding as a startup involves its share of challenges and complexities. However, there are an increasing number of options outside of traditional venture capital, some of which may be a better match and better position your startup for the future,” Jeff writes. He explains why these alternatives are enticing enough to tempt some startups away from VC.
