Anders proudly announces the promotion of Jane M. Maddox, CPA in tax, Merella Schandl, MHA, CPMSM, CPCS in health care and Stephanie H. Jones, CPA in audit and assurance to principals at the firm. The promotions were announced at the Anders annual January firm meeting. As principals, they will lead a team, consult with clients and devise strategies to create more efficient processes for both.
About Jane Maddox
After beginning her career as a tax intern at the firm in 2009, Jane grew in her role working with real estate developers and construction companies to become a leader in Anders Real Estate and Construction group. Jane helps companies tackle the unique challenges those industries have to offer while providing valuable consulting and guidance on topics including cost segregation analysis to the QBI deduction and overall tax compliance. From her previous providing interim controller support, Jane is also able to see accounting from the client’s perspective, which allows her to relate to the company’s entire financial situation.
Jane is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Missouri and holds an M.S. in Accountancy with a taxation emphasis and a B.S. in Accountancy from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Jane is a member of both the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She is also the 2022-2023 Treasurer for Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).

About Merella Schandl
Merella has over 25 years of health care experience through her work with all facets of the industry. She joined Anders in 2017 to provide health care consultation to clients, which includes hospitals, managed care organizations and physicians. She advises these clients on various health care administration matters, including regulatory compliance and credentialing to help enhance client revenue cycles, as well as providing continued industry education to those seeking certification in credentialing and leadership. With deep expertise in provider enrollment, Merella was instrumental in expanding the firm’s partnership with Fifth Avenue Health Care Services to offer a streamlined outsourced provider enrollment and credentialing solution. Merella is frequently called upon to present her health care knowledge through local and national speaking opportunities.
Merella received her B.S. in Workforce Development and Training from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale before achieving her Master’ in Healthcare Administration from Lindenwood University. Merella is also a Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Golden Key Award from the National Association Medical Staff Services and a Graduate Outstanding Student Award from the Mid-America College of Healthcare Executives. From 2014 through 2016, Merella served as the President in the Missouri Association of Medical Staff Services.

About Stephanie Jones
Stephanie joined Anders in 2017 and has over 10 years of public accounting experience providing services to multiemployer benefit plans and labor organizations. Stephanie specializes in providing audit and accounting services for defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, welfare funds, and training funds. She is involved in all aspects of client audit engagements, including work paper and tax return review, engagement planning and scheduling. Taking a leadership role on the employee benefit plan audit team, Stephanie helps guide the strategy in addition to conducting all staff training related to multiemployer plans. She takes the time to fully understand her clients’ operations and offer advice and guidance on regulations and internal controls.
A Certified Public Accountant in the state of Missouri, Stephanie holds a B.S. in Accounting from Quincy University in Illinois. She was recognized as one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s 30 Under 30 award winners in 2015. Stephanie is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP).
