Data Engineer/API Integrator
The IT Department of one of the fastest-growing accounting firms in the country is seeking a Data Engineer/API Integrator who possesses a strong technical skillset, is motivated by quality work and embraces a collaborative environment. In this role, you will support data and application integration by developing and implementing data repositories and integration architectures, strategies, guidelines, standards and leading practices. The ideal candidate will also be expected to provide support on technical and architectural direction, methodology and design to support project initiatives. You will help develop data-driven process improvements to build and connect data repositories. This role will help support the Firm Innovation and data analytic initiatives through the implementation of data analytics, business intelligence and API technologies.
What You’ll Do:
Database Warehouse responsibilities:
- Consolidate and optimize available data warehouse infrastructure.
- Conceive analytics and business intelligence platform architecture for clients, including internal and third-party clients.
- Design and implement ETL procedures for intake of data from both internal and outside sources; as well as ensure data is verified and quality is checked.
- Design and implement ETL processes and data architecture to ensure proper functioning of analytics lad, as well as client’s or third-party’s reporting environments and dashboard.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders in ensuring data warehouse development and utilization.
- Carry out monitoring, tuning, and database performance analysis.
- Perform the design and extension of data marts, meta data and data models.
API responsibilities:
- Evaluate and select enterprise application integration technologies and solution development lifecycle methodologies.
- Ability to work closely with vendors, other IT team members and architecture governance technical team for solution development and design reviews.
- Work closely with the department stakeholders and must understand the short- and medium-term strategy for the business.
- With the help of the team, define and own the technical implementation.
- Work with the Team and Product Owner in shaping a product roadmap.
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and builds out new API integrations.
- Contribute to technical discussions to decide upon approaches and tools for individual projects.
- Build infrastructure to unite large-scale systems to access and process data.
- Define APIs to empower fast and intuitive data identification, exploration and action.
Data Analytics Strategy responsibilities:
- Implement techniques and systems to monitor data quality.
- Perform data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues.
- Define a firm data strategy.
- Develop Data reporting processes.
- Develop Firm wide data standardization processes.
- Develop Data Quality processes.
- Identify Data Analytics applications that can help support Innovation and transformational products.
- Be a data advocate and educate department on more advanced uses of data analytics with client services.
- Help drive data related education to the firm.
What We’re Looking For:

- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement.
- Knowledge, experience and best practices in working with data repositories, data warehousing, data lakes, and data marts.
- Awareness of current developments affecting area of expertise.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent field is required.
- 3-5 year’s experience in integrating, designing and building APIs.
- 3-5 year’s experience working in data engineering role.
- Hands-on experience using Python, JSON, and C+
- Expert level knowledge of using SQL to write complex, highly-optimized queries across large volumes of data.
- Experience with PowerBI is preferred.
- Accounting or Financial Industry experience preferred.
