Accountant + Outsourced Accounting

The Accountant position within Outsourced Accounting offers hands-on accounting and financial experience, meaningful client interaction and the benefits of working in a progressive environment, all in real-time on an expanding technology platform. With an emphasis on handling and managing accounting transactions for clients, the Accountant will have the opportunity to help businesses transition their accounting processes to cloud-based platforms for real-time, instant access to financials to help them run their business. From accounts receivable, payable and payroll preparation to inventory analysis and monthly financial statements, this position is responsible for the accounting efforts of multiple clients in a variety of industries, while benefiting from the progressive and flexible environment offered at Anders CPAs + Advisors, consistently named a Best Place to Work.  The Accountant will enjoy having a direct impact on the financial future of the clients they serve, opportunities for professional development, and a key role in shaping and developing one of the firm’s fastest growing service lines. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in transitioning clients to cloud-based platforms
  • Handle the day-to-day accounting transactions for clients; including bill pay, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll preparation
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and closing of general ledger
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and the chart of accounts
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the financial condition of the firm’s clients, including analysis of results
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Offer financial advice and solutions to help clients succeed
  • Be a key part of a team that is continually evolving in policy, procedures, technology advancement and delivering exceptional client experience

Compliance

  • Prepare client sales tax returns, year-end 1099 returns and property tax declarations
  • Serve as a first-line representative of the firm with clients, vendors, business partners and other Anders service lines and niches
  • Continually work towards ensuring compliance while meeting client goals
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
Qualifications
  • Advanced QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online experience
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Familiarity with cloud-based software applications
  • Experience with other general ledger packages a plus
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Forward-thinker who is open to new ideas and a desire to try new technologies and processes

Principal + Forensic and Litigation

The Forensic and Litigation Group of a growing accounting firm located in St. Louis, MO is seeking a professional, dynamic, and energetic individual to lead the firm’s business valuation practice. Relocation assistance will be considered for the right candidate.

The individual selected for this position must have an entrepreneurial drive and spirit and the ability to add value to the firm beyond the strict definition of the position. In addition, the individual must have the ability to develop and execute strategy to grow the business valuation practice while leading, managing and training personnel within the Forensic and Litigation Group. A successful individual in this role will have the opportunity to be considered for Partner, based on overall performance in the role. 

Specific duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership and business valuation expertise to grow the business valuation advisory services practice
  • Manage valuation projects of business ownership interests and intangible assets for purposes of mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance, restructuring and reorganization, litigation, and management planning
  • Perform review of third-party valuation reports to support the firm’s audit department
  • Design engagement scope, oversee day-to-day activities and communications with engagement team, take responsibility for overall efficiency of engagement work, ensure quality and timeliness of client deliverables, and effectively manage risk associated with engagements
  • Enhance and improve analysis processes, financial models, and reports
  • Delegate work to staff according to their experience and capabilities
  • Review the work of staff and provide coaching, mentoring, training, and performance reviews
  • Build, maintain, and enhance client relationships as the key point of contact throughout all phases of engagements, including billing and collection of valuation services
  • Develop business by expanding existing relationships with clients, maintaining personal networks, and participating in civic, business, and professional organizations

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, Economics, and/or Related Field from an accredited college/university required; Master’s degree preferred
  • CPA, CFA, and/or valuation credentials such as ABV, ASA, CVA preferred
  • Minimum 8-10 years of business valuation experience within a business valuation firm and/or valuation practice of a traditional audit, tax, and advisory services firm
  • Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Significant experience with valuation of business entities and intangible assets, complex capital structures, purchase price allocations, 409A valuations, analyzing goodwill and long-lived asset impairment, litigation support, and financial analysis and research
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple valuation engagements, mange client relationships, and supervise and train staff
