Hoops for Hope Raises $9,500 for Charity of Choice
The 29th annual Hoops for Hope tournament attracted over 500 participants who played to support the 2016 Anders Charity of Choice, Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Members of the Stray Rescue staff and two furry friends joined Anders for an appreciation lunch where a check for $9,500 was presented to Stray Rescue.
Hoops for Hope, Anders’ NCAA basketball pool draws participation from Anders clients, colleagues, referral sources and friends of the firm from all over the U.S. Craig Campbell, CPA, tax partner, started the pool and remains the organizer. He is assisted by a large contingent of Anders staff who set-up the online pool, market it and count the proceeds. This year, Anders had a slew of great “Triple-Diamond MEGA Platinum Sponsor” sponsors.
The top 25 finishers earned a prize, with Anders and the sponsors donating the prizes, ranging from an Amazon Echo to Cardinals tickets and gift cards to local restaurants such as Llywelyn’s, Basso and 360, among others. There was also a special prize for the player that came in last place, a year’s supply of What-A-Ya Nuts?!
Each January, members of the firm vote on a Charity of Choice and work throughout the year to support the organization through dress-down days, penny wars and other fundraising events. Hoops for Hope is the largest of those efforts.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis is a local organization with the sole purpose of rescuing abandoned, abused and neglected animals and restoring them to health to be placed in loving, adoptive homes.
