Hoops for Hopes Results in $7,500 for Basket of Hope
Twenty-seven years ago, Hoops for Hope was just an in-house basketball pool; today it is a major fundraiser, netting $7,500 for Anders’s 2014 Charity of Choice, Basket of Hope. Members of the Basket of Hope staff joined Anders this month for an appreciation lunch and to present the check to Basket of Hope.
Hoops for Hope, Anders’ NCAA basketball pool draws participation from Anders clients, colleagues, referral sources and friends of the firm from all over the U.S. Craig Campbell, CPA, tax partner, started the pool and remains the organizer. He is assisted by a large contingent of Anders staff who set-up the online pool, market it and count the proceeds. This year, Anders had a slew of great “Triple-Diamond MEGA Platinum Sponsor” sponsors.
Every year the proceeds grow, and this year was no different with all the funds going to Basket of Hope. The top 15 finishers earned a prize, with Anders and the sponsors donating the prizes, which this year included a variety of electronic devices and sports and entertainment tickets.
Each January, members of the firm vote on a Charity of Choice and work throughout the year to support the organization through dress-down days, penny wars and other fundraising events. Hoops for Hope is the largest of those efforts.
Basket of Hope is a St. Louis-based charity that delivers thousands of baskets to over 17 hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses around the country each year. The baskets are given to the children and also contain age appropriate toys, games, crafts, movies, gift certificates, and more.
