Identity Theft PINs are Out…and Misleading
The IRS recently issued Identity Protection Personal Identification Numbers (IP PIN) for identity theft victims. The unique six-digit pin number will be used on your 2015 income tax return to verify your identity. IRS officials recently announced, “Due to an error, taxpayers are receiving their Identity Protection PIN letters with an incorrect year listed”. The IRS has confirmed that these IP PINs are still valid and should be used on all 2015 income tax returns.
