Discover Anders 2015
Discover Anders 2015 is in the books! On June 23 – 24, we welcomed 36 students into the office for our annual two-day summer leadership program. These 36 students represented 12 different universities including: SEMO, UMSL, Dayton, Mizzou, MSU, SLU, Truman, SIUC, SIUE, Central Methodist, Rockhurst, and Indiana University. They also represented our largest group of participants to date, reflecting the continued growth of the firm. Our internship program continues to expand and we wanted our number of Discover Anders participants to reflect this growth.
This year the two-day program kicked off with a welcome greeting from our Managing Partner, Robert Minkler, Jr. He addressed the opportunities available for incoming students to make an impact at Anders and invited them to contact him with anything they may need throughout their collegiate career. We continued to include our staple session, Identify Your Individual Brand, led by Chief Marketing Officer, Donna Erbs. Many were surprised that they identified with a different brand than they expected. Students always come away learning something new about themselves and how they interact with others.
New to the program this year was incorporating a tour of The Fabulous Fox Theater. Many participants are from the St. Louis area, but had not toured the theater before. It was a nice chance for students to do something fun that was non-accounting related. We continued our afternoon by volunteering at KidSmart. Our time at KidSmart during last year’s program was such a success; we wanted to bring our 2015 group back. Many Anders employees are involved in charities and extremely dedicated to the community. We felt it was critical to expose the students to this aspect of life at Anders by including a community service project. We wrapped up the day with networking and dinner at Ballpark Village, exposing the students to some of the advantages of working in Downtown St. Louis.
On Day 2, students interviewed for future internship opportunities with one member of our tax department and one member of our audit team. They also engaged in roundtable discussions learning more about Anders different service lines.
Discover Anders is always one of our favorite recruiting events of the year. We had 52 Anders employees participate in the two-day program helping give office tours, network during dinner, and participate in roundtable discussions. We are thankful for their enthusiasm and interest in recruiting the next class of interns. To date, we have extended 21 internship offers for spring and summer 2016 internships. Anders has an extremely bright future and we look forward to this program continuing to reflect the opportunities available for students.
