Dave M. Finklang Selected for AICPA Leadership Academy
Dave M. Finklang, CPA/CGMA, a supervisor in the Tax Services group at Anders CPAs and Advisors (Anders), is one of 37 CPAs under the age of 36 selected for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) 2013 Leadership Class.
During the concentrated five day program, which took place from September 29th – October 4th at the Washington Duke Inn, Finklang, along with 37 professional peers, discussed issues that are specific to the accounting profession and CPAs today. They also learned about leadership theory, strategic planning techniques and developed tools to handle complex management issues.
“Being selected for the AICPA’s Leadership Academy means being part of an elite group of the best and brightest young minds in the accounting profession,” said Richard Caturano, CPA, CGMA, AICPA chairman, “These young CPAs are poised to make a positive impact in the profession, and the training they will receive will serve them well as they take the next steps in their careers.”
In addition to his work at Anders, Finklang is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (MSCPA) Taxation Committee, the 2013/2014 Strategic Planning Team, and is a mentor in their Student Mentoring Program; he was also named the MSCPA’s Outstanding Young Professional of 2013. As an integral member of the St. Louis chapter of the MSCPA, Finklang is involved in the Young Professionals Network, and is the co-chair on the Tax and Other Emerging Issues Task Force. He is the Director of the Testicular Cancer Society, serves as a member of the University of Central Missouri’s School of Accountancy’s Advisory Board, and is also a volunteer with Imerman Angels as a cancer mentor.
